Long trips in an S2000
Loudmusic, there are two seasons in Washington state, Winter and Road Construction.
Once you get to Seattle if you're still looking for scenery, skip I90 heading east. Instead take highway 2 or highway 20 the North Cascades Highway. Highway 20 is my recommendation, it's a world class drive and world class scenery. Expect Road Construction.

do it! even with the top down i can drive for a long period. my gf fell asleep in the passenger seat it was that comfortable to cruise. only thing i suggest it to bring a small pillow for your passenger to rest her head since the seat is pretty hard on the top.
Get a Honda Element, they get great gas milage, are comfy, and have a TON of room in them!!! Oh, you can also camp out in it if you need to, or wnat to. We have one and love it, moved from Cali to Kansas in it with a bunch of junk and two cats crawling around....
If you can't buy a new one, or rent one. Get something bigger, you guys are gonna be hurting after a day. Now if you had a Vette, I could see a long trip in it, but 6K miles!!!

THREAD RESTARTS HERE
Wow, I never came back to post pictures. How rude of me! We ended up doing that monster 3 week trip in my 1993 Accord EX sedan. It was a great trip, and a sign of things to come.

Not long after we got married and our non-driving honeymoon was the annual trip for '05.
Then in '06 we went Northeast in our 2004 Civic Hybrid. Less mileage, less time, but another great adventure.

But most important of all, we came BACK to the Northwest in our 2006 Laguna Blue S2000 for PAX 2007. The mountains, in a roadster, are incredible.

The maps are mostly accurate. We did do quite a bit of "off the highway sight seeing" along the way. Stopping in state and national parks, museums, and checking out the countryside.
Less than a year after the last trip to Washington we moved here! (to Washington) That in itself was a trip. And over Christmas we drove back to Arkansas in our Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. One day I'll learn to stay put. Hopefully that day is a long way off.

I've driven the S 1100 miles in one day dropping my friend off at Berkeley for the semester, with a Bride racing seat, and had no problems. I think it's a great car for long trips.
That said, the stock seats need something for lumbar support during the trip, either a pillow, folded towel, ect. Otherwise, it's gonna be rough.
Beyond that, I think it's a great car for long trips. It's better at higher speeds than most sedands, the small seating area makes it seem cozy and keeping the top down on sunny days keeps you alert.
I say go enjoy it.

What a great thread. Thanks for coming back to post your pics, LoudMusic. I've been wondering how the S would be on a long trip as I'm considering taking my beloved wife (the only +1 allowed in my S
) to Wake the Dragon this year.

I have taken one moderate trip that was 600 miles, now granted I have a bad back and knees to start with but after that trip I didn't want to even fathom the thought of driving the car for a few days after that . I hurt really bad.

GO FOR IT
The S is the ultimate driving machine, all day, all week, top down and love the drive.
Wear ear plugs, sunscreen and you will be fine.
If you can't enjoy the S sell it.
My wife and I take our S everywhere, the longer the trip the more fun it is and NEVER with the top up. Been doing that 35 years now since all I have ever owned were convertibles and the S is a major upgrade from our last car.

i would take care going up through oregon and washington. they just got a bunch of snow and many of the passes are closed cause of avalanch danger. but depending when you come it should all be cleared up.
just have fun, only drive as much per day as the two of you can stand and just enjoy it.
if you swing by it, you should go to the grand canyon. it is touristy, but some of the scenery is amazing.
also the redwoods are amazing, and driving through hollowed trees is funny. if they still have that, its been a long time...
have fun, too bad that the s isn't going to make the trip
, but no you don't have to worry about space.
oh and if you are planning on taking the coast the whole way, you may want to bring a small tent and a sleeping bag or two. there are some great places to camp along the beach, ans you can score some major romantic points along the way. very few thing make a chick happier than sitting by a fire watching the sun set over the ocean as the stars come out...
( all this only applies as long as you are actually taking you gf and not your sister...)
i have found that on trips, that the more you do to make the trip great for her, the better the trip will be for you...
