Default Longest period of S2k ownership?

In 12 days time I will have owned my S2000 for 3 years. Its build date is June '99 and its VIN is 0081.

Anyone else owned their S2000 longer? I am sure there must be a few Australian or Japanese challengers in the wings!

I was about to post that the longest owners must be from Australia or Japan since the car was released as a 99 model in those markets. I think most of the arly US market cars were sold starting in September 99. Anyone in the US get their's earlier than that?

I'm fairly sure the S2000 was released in May or June '99 in Japan.

We NA guys had to wait till mid-September. I got on the waitlist in mid-January '99. It was early enough that a few dealers had no idea what car I was talking about, even though the S had been shown here at the LA Autoshow the week before...

GTI, we in Oz pay a lot more for our vehicles than you guys in the US. The cost back then was $AUD 70k which equates to $US33k but don't forget our average salaries are $ for $ with US so it is the equivalent of a US resident paying $70k for their car

The good news though is that Australian dealers are not allowed to mark up beyond RRP so I did not pay any premium.

On top of my $70k cost I then had to pay another $5k in dealer delivery charges, licence fees, state taxes etc. so my total on road cost was $AUD75k.

I took delivery of mine on September 30, 1999. I think I got the 10th one delivered in Houston. I have 21,000 miles on it, second set of tires, everything stock and never had any problems. I run autocross every other month, and have taken it to the 2.9 mile road course at Texas World Speedway three weekends. I still love driving it around town, at the track or at an autocross.
