Look what this jackass has to say...
He's not really a jackass. He's saying this is not a car for everyone. I think the characteristics he admires, like performance, I agree with. The characteristics that he downgrades, like storage space, is like who cares. Yea, I bought the S2000 because of the trunk space, the performance is only secondary! No way! He's a reporter covering all bases. CYA!
Why do you guys get so defensive? Overall I find his review quite fair. The only points I really disagree with are his comment on the heavy, dead steering and the gruff sounding motor. All his other points are either subjective or spot on.
I don't mind the fact that reviewers don't share all my views on the S2k - a lot of their negatives (like the tight interior and the peaky motor) I consider positives.
Let's face it the S2k is not to everyone's taste - it is a fairly uncompromising vehicle - and that's exactly what I like about it
I want a car that forces me to make an effort to get the best out of it - that is cold and uncomfortable when I drive around in the winter with the top down. That makes me consider the road conditions in order that my "slippery when wet" SO2s don't spin me off into the ditch.
This is a car that makes me feel ALIVE instead of being yet another monotous homogenous characterless ride.
Three cheers for the S2000 - dare to be different.

Last time I checked there weren't alot of large handed Japanese people, thus there is no reason to have large, spaced out buttons for the radio! This car was designed by people half a world away whose main focus was under the hood, not on the dashboard. Who hired that asshole?
Dan Jedlicka is not to be ridiculed. When he says that the traction might be something on slippery roads. He's right. Even on dry roads in a turn I get the back end moving sideways a foot or so. Is that a problem? No! It's a feature. I love it. It means I have power under the hood. When he says a Miata is fine for less money. It depends what you want per dollar, looks or performance, or a certain combination of the two. For a lot of people, I would say: "Buy a Miata."
Does anyone who drives our machine, think he/she made a mistake? I think not! Therefore, what he says may be true for the masses, but for the 5-6k people per year that buy and drive these things, we travel to the beat of a different drum. He's addressing the masses, as he should. If everyone could drive the S2000, it could not be the same machine. It isn't, it's special and it's for us.
