Default Looking at an 04

I currently drive an 07 335i, but looking to pull some cash out and get a cheaper car. And what better then an S2k?

Just have a few questions, Now the 04 has the new facelift. I remember reading at some point that the S2k was getting a power boost too. did that ever happen? Also do the 04's come with stock LED tails?

Thanks!

Are you getting rid of the bimmer? You might want to reconsider that if you are. The S2000 got new headlights, taillights, front bumper, rear bumper, interior upgrades, and a 2.2L engine for 2004.

Whether it got a power boost is a personal question, as many feel different about it. I personally think it's a little slower than an AP1 (2000-2003) but others will disagree. Either way, they're fun and reliable cars.

yes I will be most likely getting rid of the BMW to free up some cash. Thanks for the info. And do they have LED Tails?

AP2 has the same hp as an AP1, but has more torque. So I wouldn't really agree with the AP2 being slower.

I suggest you go and test drive both. If this is going to be a daily driver, I'd lean towards the AP2. But go drive both and let us know. You won't be disappointed with either!

i'm not one to caught up in the ap1 vs ap2 debate, but why tell someone the ap2 is slower?

at least just give the facts. ap2 has a slightly larger engine, lower redline, same hp rating, but more torque. how does that equate to slower is beyond me

The full list of the changes from 03 to 04 is here - https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=483593

The 04 in general is more powerful, but different gearing, different VTEC, and 25 more lbs pretty much mean it performs the same as the rest of the S2000s.

If you get an AP2 and spend some money on some lux fetaures like premium sound, auto up/down windows and heated seats, you'll be happy imo - probably cost you <$2k to make the cabin a very nice place.

it doesn't...
but i digress....

SakiGT posted the link to the list of differences between the '03 and the '04.. there are more differences in '06, but you can find all of them in the FAQ.

You should be saving quite a bit from an '07 335 to an '04 S2k.

Get a final gear.

Without it, the S2000 feels sloooooooow below vtec.

Sorry how much extra TQ does the AP2 have? And can you drive these things in winter with winter tires? Do they have traction control? LSD?
