Looking at buying an s2k. Please help
Hey guys. I have an 03 RSX type S that im looking at selling and buying a 2000-2001 s2k. Can anyone give me any advice as to whether I should do this or not? Also, I know all about honda reliability, but i want to know first hand from some of yall about these particular years. Are there any differences between the 2 year models? Thanks for any help.

There is not a ton of difference between the 00-01. However, the 02 did have a lot of tweaks for some of the more annoying problems.
Without knowing the numbers it is hard to judge, but I am very confidant saying that selling an 03 is going to loose you money right now. The used car market in general is in the crapper, and return on investment for a car is WAY over 1 year.
You can do it, (I did it, traded a new '02 truck for another new '02 truck.) It costs money, and if you have it to burn, go for it. Otherwise, wait.

Edmunds.com gives me a private party sale for the rsx at $18-19000. A 2001 s2k says about $20,000 private party. I was wondering if it was worth selling a newer car for an older s2k. thanks

just had a friend trade in his rsx s and he got $18k on the trade in. he then bought a 01 s2k.
i guess it all depends on the dealer. go see how much they will take for your car. if its not what you want, try selling it privately and go from there.
i just bought a 02 b/c i really wanted the glass back window and they didn't come with them in the 00-01 models. plus i wanted all red int.

I'm in the middle of the same dillemma. I bought my 03 RSX 13 months ago and recently got a big raise.. One side of the brain says "Fool" while the other side says "Zoom"!!!

My wife smashed up my '02 RSX-S about a year ago. I went back to the Acura lot to pick up another RSX, and they had an '01 S2k sitting there, they let me take it for a couple of days, it was all over.
RSX is really practical, but I hardly ever used the hatch and never once used the back seat, so the S2k suits me fine. I've had zilcho problems with my S2k. The S2k takes a little more cash to keep it going than an RSX, you'll be buying tires and brake pads more frequently than other Hondas, so if you can barely afford the S2k it might not be such a great idea. Otherwise, go for it, everybody should own a convertible sports car at least once.

Just do what you want, people don't pay your bills. If you think you can live with it, go for it. Thats what I did and there is not one though of regret in me. I LOVE IT!!!
