I'm pretty sure you could look at the results of ITB's on Integra R motors and have a damn good idea how it would work on the S2000.
Well, I only look at what's been reportedly done on S2000s and so far, ITBs have not been impressive in any way except for the really "cool" sound. I'm always reluctant to cross compare when it comes to the S2000. This has resulted in fooling many people so far. So, have ITBs worked really well on Integra R motors? Because the first ones so far on S2000s haven't worked very well at all and certainly don't justify the cost for the benefits gained.

As an analogy to another current topic: Hondata reflash. So far, the expense is immense for what you get and for the next little while, people will be hesitant. Left alone, this topic will emerge in the years to come as being the "end all, be all" mod. Until some improvements and further developments come about, we will see this same enthusiasm 3 or 4 years from now, once people forget about the beginnings of the "reflash" era.

Yeah, I'm not arguing FOR ITB's. On a stock displacement motor, they're kind of a pointless mod. I'm just arguing that we shouldn't toss out the experiences found with other nearly identical honda motors simply because they're not in an S2000.

From my research ITB's can improve throttle response but, don't really add power. They improve throttle response by reducing the mass of air that has to move when the main large throttle butterfly opens versus 4 small butterfly's.

I have had my VT on my car for about 3.5 years, daily driver and never an issue with it. Many others have the same story to tell. You have to be more discriminating on what you've "heard".

That is only a difference in the way the power is delivered. It's got little to do with what's "not so great" for the S2K. "Great" is a matter of perception, personal taste and need.

I thought you were meaning that it wasn't "safe" for the engine.

Go find and watch the video "American Togue #1" from BMI. It's available on the net or buy it. COmptech brought out there supered S2000 and NSX to compete against a bunch of other tuner companies. I found their comments about the supers to be pretty valuable.

Can you give us the "bottom line" of what was said?

I had a comptech S/C on my car making 320rwhp and loved it. Very dependable and fast. Above 4k is where is was it came in. After I had a bad tuning experience that trashed my motor I went turbo. I have a speedcraft setup which runs like a top. Feels like a stock S but with a lot more power. Good tuner. I can be at 15lbs at about 4500rpm. It ran out of injector at 427rwhp. This is a small turbo with a log manifold. You don't notice any lag and everyone that has driven it comes back smiling.

Turbos done right cost more than S/Cs but offer sooooo much more. More Hp more torque and boost sooner.

They loved both car's, They said the NSX was in a class by itself and it was elected the American togue monster. The both gushed over the S2000.

Orida-san said:

"it feels like the displacement's been increased, but still keeping the good characteristics of the S2000 engine. The suspension and chassis are also well built".

Announcer said:

"Because the base car was built so well, it showed no stress even with increased horsepower"

They also like that, with the comptech air cleaner, they didn't hear the nasty whine sound they associate with other Super's they'd driven. Sadly it only ranked 4th in the the time trials. An imprezza and EG6 were #1 and 2 and the NSX was 3rd.

That movie convinced me that a comptech super is in my future. Probably sell my track car to finance it this winter.
