A simple terrycloth towel beats the Miata tube. The tube must be held in place while the top is lowered. The towel only requires tucking at the top and either side where the top overlaps the rear window. The towel is now held in place when you lower the top and you can raise it again for temporay security when shopping or dining. After 15 months and almost as many miles, my rear window is free of scratches and creases.

I've got the tube and love it.

No need to hold it in place if you retract the top a few inches and then hop out and place it on the window. At that point the window is inclined enough to hold the tube in place. As you full retract it the tube just rolls in to place. I think you'd be very happy with it! I am...

Hmm, wouldn't it be good karma if the dealer / Honda offered this even as an option! They could really learn a shitload of stuff from this site!

I bought the stuff to make one (based on this site: http://webhome.crk.umn.edu/~fredric/bolster.htm ) but I never made it because I never found the need for one. When I put my top down the window never tries to folder-over-against itself anyhow! Occassionally it might "wrinkle" in the middle, but when I notice that (the top is only part way down at this point) I just get out of the car and push the "wrinkle" out of the window and then finished putting the top down. I just don't see a need for the product (at least with my S2K).

I never thot I needed the tube but I've noticed a wrinkle in my window that doesn't come out. Top folded down over nite in cold garage. A hair dryer should remove this but the tube might prevent it from occuring.

I agree. Like the roof well mat from Muz. It looks amazing and works great! I'm really happy with it.

Oh well, live and learn I guess.

A "pool noodle" flotation device also works great as a Miata/S2000 window tube. A few bucks at the local target/wal-mart/whatever.

Don't use pipe insulation. It can't handle the heat and will dissolve. It doesn't leave a mess, but sort of sublimes. Ask me how I know

On the site that sells the tube it has a big caution. It says never to leave the top down exposed to sunlight because the tube can melt into the window! Has this ever been a problem for you guys?
