I've got an idea which would require sheets (about 1/16 inch thick) of neoprene rubber. I can't use wetsuit material, due to the cellular nature. I need fully-dense sheet.

Anyone know where I could get this ?

The insulation material I got from Home Depot is sort of like that. Don't know if it is closed or open cell, but it is adhesive backed and is stretchable. Used it to line the intake box. It is supplied in rolls.

What's the advantage of lining the intake with this material?

Keeps the box cool to the intake air. Might help keep the intake air charge cooler during idle, when air is in contact with the box surfaces longer, thus helping to prevent hesitation or the like when starting to roll; some have posted experiences with this from idle and one mentioned he blips the throttle to clear the intake prior to rolling to prevent this.

I figure, it might help, doesn't hurt (at least I don't think it does) and makes the air intake that much more of a "cold air" intake.
