Im looking to buy an 2008 s2000 and found one on facebook with a salvaged title which im okay with. It was hit in the front, and the frame was straightened but you can see in the pictures the hood isnt lining up very well. So im curious can this be fixed? Does this mean it wasn't straightened properly? Other than that the car looks clean, he said the A/C compressor wasnt damaged at all and its right behind the bumper. Thanks for the help.
the hood AND the bumper on the passenger side are off kilter. If you really want to know, take it to the Honda dealer or trusted alignment shop to see if the reference points are within spec. That's what I'd be doing- just eyeballing it won't reveal underlying problems.
^ Agreed with the above. Not too bad of damage seemingly and a repair done on the cheap. Don't pay clean title price for it. I'd at least discount 1k for OEM headlights. Those things would really make me angry. The other stuff, just factor in your price to repair. Check if the hood and pass. fender are Honda or cheap aftermarket stuff. Figure out what used ones cost and factor in labor to mount and paint them. It's possible that those things put you into clean title s2k territory price wise. At that point, it's not worth your time and money. If you want to just drive it as is, might be a good deal to get you into a S2k.
He said the front bumper and grill was replaced with oem from honda idk how true that is i will ask him about the vin stickers and see what panels have them, and then passenger fender and hood were repaired so those should be oem. But it's a pretty good deal i think 20k, 80k miles. I dont plan on selling anytime soon either so the rebuilt title doesnt bother me.
I'm not a body guy but I'm kinda surprised they'd be able to repair that hood and fender. Either way, the original or OEM parts from a different car will obviously have the Honda VIN sticker. Honda replacement panels have a MDOT sticker, similar to the VIN sticker, where the VIN would typically be. I struggled to find an image in google to demonstrate. Prices are pretty crazy but 20k still feels high for a salvage car. If you just want to drive it as is, I'm sure it's fine but to pay to fix it, I bet you'll be in 23k+ anyways and still have a salvage title.
