Default Losing speed on top end, why?!?!

Well im just curious as to why we lost some top end speed. Obviously when the car was almost stock (never really was) just intake and exhaust it would pull up to 145+ no problem. Now with the body kit and 18 inch wheels it seems to lose steam at 130 or so. It climbs but very slowly. Once we hit 135-138 it seems as if thats it. What caused it to lose top end? Im thinking its the wheels, but not sure would the bodykit affect it, I mean aerodynamics and downforce etc?

Wheels + Bodykit = Drag = lower top end speed.

Wow!! You have guts driving that fast!! I got scared going a little over 100mph down Clovis Ave. racing and barely beating a 5.0 stang.

hmm id a gree w/ teh drag statement, also, bigger wheels=higher rotating mass

also, wont larger rims/tires change the gear ratio?

btw when my S was stock, I had no problems climbing to 147, then I shut down for fear of the boys in blue (on an open 4 lane highway, pretty flat grade, top down) it seemed to pull preatty fricken hard, well at least harder than any other car ive driven/rode in

Yeah thats what I figured, a combination of the kit and wheels. Oh well, I guess it definitely has no chance against the Evo then on the freeway from now on. Ive hit 152 before letting off

I am not trying to be an ass or anything but I hope you are not driving that fast when other drivers are around.

How about taking your car to local Auto X or HPDE events. Drivers education program would be even better.

Please.....Do not drive that fast with other innocent people around you. If you crash, you should go by yourself. Don't hurt or kill others.

Are you serious Auto X and HPDE's are cool, but who are you to insinuate she needs to go to a driver education program. She is not stupid enough to do something like that with even as much as one other car on the road.

I suppose you never broke a traffic law before

... if you got the S just for cool drives with top down its ok.
However, I believe that this doesnt give you the right to give advises to other people how they should drive and to try avoiding killing innocent people.

Lol, thanks for the advice. But generally I try to race when there are very few people on the road. Oh and BTW you can kill someone doing the speed limit as well (not trying to be an ass)

Thanks for having my back guys

One last point...This is the Street Encounters forum. I always find it funny when people come in here and say "I hope your not doing that on the streeT" Oh no I was doing at the track, thats why I posted in SE
