Default Losing traction for fun

Okay, i know i will get flamed a lot for this but im sure some of you tried it.

I have a huge open lot, literally nothing it, next to my school and people usually go there to mess around. Well the s2k being my first RWD car and my first car with over 170 hp, i decided to have a tiny bit of fun. Im always scared of sliding the rear end in a turn when i dont want to so i mainly did it as a learning experience (although i doubt you guys will believe me ).

Anyways, i wanted to see how easy it was to lose traction so i started to roll in 1st gear (about 5 mph) and then turned, then gassed it. I ended up losing traction so easily i ended up doing a 180. I gotta say, i was very surprised it was this easy... kinda scary too...

So my question to you guys, any parking lot stories?

And no, i do not promote wreckless driving or street racing of any kind.

wreckless is usually the opposite to reckless when it comes to driving.

Ahhh the good 'ole times, go practice in wet as you need way less speed and way less throttle making it easier to control!! Miss those days!

You mean taking the car into a big empty parking lot to learn how to control the rear wheel drive car right?

I would like to mention one word - autocross.

I suspect you could become addicted, which is a good thing because you should be able to learn alot about your RWD ride.

Yeah, autocross is the same thing except you have more purpose. Nothing wrong with testing a car's handling in a parking lot though - its safer than trying on the road.

I agree with triple H.

two words:

skid pad.

go find a driving school or auto-x that offers a figure 8 and you could burn all your tires and lose control all you want with a safe course designed by SCCA Safety stewart.

That and you get to know your limit without getting a ticket for laying dragging.

after the wet skid pad/figure 8 and dry figure 8, I'm very confident when my rear does lose control. That and the price for these courses are usually cheaper than your laying dragging or reckless driving tickets.

Find a SCCA chapter near you and learn your car's limit in a controlled environment, and find out how much driving talent you have.
