Default Loss of F1 team end to S2000 lineage

Honda to sell or decomission their F1 team, the heritage that brought the S2000 and CR. I guess they'll have to draw from the other classes of racing that they still participate in for inspiration. Sad that the RA cars that started it all are coming to an end.

meh...Honda temporarily pulled out as an F1 engine supplier back when the S2k was initially released in 1999. The s2k was supposed to be an homage to Honda's F1 history.

The S2000's lineage was lost when they started mass producing it with the ap2 model.
It lost it's 9g rev line became a misbadged S2200 and production was moved from Tochigi to Suzuka.

Give me a Tochigi plant S2000 anyday. The only other cars produced there were F1 and NSX's. The quality was Honda's best. There was only one robot on site, everything else including the motor was hand assembled.

I don't think the lineage was lost with the AP2....the AP2 merely was modernized with the ultimate change being addition of DBW and VSC in later AP2s. Nothing wrong with it....just modern. I chose an AP1 specifically to avoid all the modernities. Modernity what my RL is for.....

I think F1 and NSX cancellations were purely financial in nature and very prudent. Honda would rather cancel programs during this unprecedented worldwide recession, and reassign people, than cut jobs. I am quite positive they'll both be back when the economy improves somewhat.

Wow...With that kind of mindset, I'm suprised that you don't a pic in your signature of a 50's era family laughing and pointing at the AP2 lettering to their left!!!
