Default loud scraping sound coming from wheel area..

Help!

i have this scraping sound coming from (i think) my driver side front wheel area. it is kind of like metal to metal sounding. i dont think its my brakes since the sound is on and off (~43k miles on orginal pads), sometimes constant while driving and sometimes non-existent.

the sound is more noticeable when cornering right. when i am driving straight and there is no sound, i can make the sound my jerking the wheel to the right, which is why i dont think its my brakes. any one have any idea what this could be? im taking it to the dealer today, hopefully its covered under my honda care extended warranty.

any help and info is greatly appreciated. thanks!

Is the sound tied to the speed of the car? When you go faster, does it get faster? Maybe check the heatshields for your front brakes and see if they're touching anything else.

Maybe a bad bearing, maybe a stuck rock, just see what the dealer says now, and let us know.

ok went to the dealer and the tech said, after i took him for a drive, that it was my brake pads.

does your car's brakes squeak when pads are thin? in all other cars i know of, this is the signal that pads are thin... my S has never squeaked.

now, i didnt think of this question till i got home, but why only squeal on a turn and not when applying the brake (and why are my pads touching the rotors on a turn)?

possibly a warped rotor making contact with the pad?

retorque your hub nuts and maybe re-tighten the parts in the surrounding area. I had the same issue before. One of those should fix it.,

Had the exact same deal in my Civic a couple weeks ago, same thing happened on and off all the time, not under breaking and especially during turning.

Dealer found a pebble in there somewhere. That was it.

was my brakes, the metal thing sticking out was scraping, i guess instead of a squealing sound, the S makes a scraping sound... if that makes any sense...

anyways, did a diy, saved myself $40. w00t
