Default low beam

which type of bulb we use for the day light beam/low beam??

Let me clarify the D2S is for the lowbeam. H1 is for the highbeam. The D2S is an HID bulb and is VERY expensive. Probably over $100/bulb.

H1 is the high beam bulb. I would assume that on those vehicles from up north equipped with drls it would also do that function.

Ugh I hate those drls...

It's possible by retro-fitting an aftermarket HID kit into the highbeam location.

Possible, yes.

Would you want it, probably not. Given the start-up time for HID lights then "flashing to pass" would be a thing of the past - and other problems. That is why every car with OEM HID low beams leaves them on when you hit the high beams. Avoids being in the dark when you flip back from high to low.
