Default low milin' my 08 --

so, i picked up my '08 in June with 110 on the odo.

took her to a meet and greet last week, and added 70 miles to her.

she's now at 170 miles.

it really hurts --

keeping the revs around 3K is torture, and "talking" about vtec is getting sorta old --

anyway, there is definite pain, knowing i have another 430 miles till she can start living -- especially at this pace!

i fear my S will be on Mecum Auto Auctions some day --

-- "HEEERRRRRRRREEE is an ULTRA LOW miled s2000" -- !!!

Take a road trip, and get some miles on it.

Put the car on the Interstate for a few hours. I did this with my brand new '06 2 and a half years ago. A 5500mi round trip and my car now has less than 13,000mi on it. A perfect way to break in your car IMO. However ,I did put about a 1000 prior to the trip.

Drive it hard now. No need to be gentle for "break in". Break it in hard now, it'll run hard later

The owner's manual says 600.

Break it in how you plan on driving it. I put all my new vehicles on a quick break in:

1) Redline outta the dealership, and slam through the gears all the way home (~30-40 miles typically)
2) Get home and change with new breakin oil
3) Redline it everywhere with new breakin oil until 150 miles on the ODO.
4) Get home and change with conventional oil
5) Redline it everywhere until 400 miles
6) Get home and change with synthetic oil
7) Change oil again at 1500 with synthetic
8) Enjoy increased HP and correctly seated rings for thousands of miles to come
9) Pull on all other "stock" vehicles because the rings were seated under conditions the motor was meant to be used in.

Also, putting the car on the interstate is the worst thing you can do. Breaking in the motor is all about "setting" the piston rings under ALL RPMs, not just 3000-4000.

There are many opinions concerning break-in and the best way may be Honda's own recommendations. What ever way you decide to go, keep it as reasonable as possible and with the Honda's rec in mind.

No need to baby it at all. Thats all BS. Engines are usually basically broken in before their even in the car anyways. Steady rpm's for break in is the worst you can do however.

Take a ride over to Letchworth or down to the casino in Salamanca or a ride along the lake to Pa.
