Well, I still think that the S2000 has pretty good power
below 6k rpm. Also it goes like a bat out of hell afterwards!

Seriously though, I feel a little responsible for all the trouble caused
on this thread with my

So far its Audi 1,2,3,4......

I haven't been able to keep up with much racing lately. Panoz if I recall used to run Robert Yates (NASCAR fame) engines. They went away from this set-up?

Just to get the post back on topic, I think the S has plenty of tourque for everyday driveability. I do think many people including some of the Mag writers would like to see the engine characteristics reversed. That is VTEC with lots up torque up to 6000RPM and then disengage VTEC and act like of CIVIC at the top end up to 80000RPM and reduce the peak HP to around 210.

Audi's...I had an Audi diesel once...no complaints but talk about slooooow. Trying to talk the wife into an A6 once the kids are gone and we no longer need the van.

Lets see VW owns Porsche, Lambo, et al. Mercedes owns Chrysler, Ford owns Volvo, Mazda, Jaguar, Aston Martin. That leaves Honda, and BMW to get together?

Yes Panoz is having some troubles with their new cars. The customer audis are right there behind the factory cars. Kinda sucks but that is what high dollar racing s all about I gues. The 675 class is hopefully going to be the hot ticket.
I am not trying to compare the two cars by any means. the only thing they have in common is that I "personally" am looking at trading in my 2000 for a S4. Thats it. I am now right here going to go back on something I said earlier...that was taken out of context and by me typed wrong. I am sorry for "offending" anybody. The S2000 is a great car but I would still own a Porsche twin turbo if i had the chance.
The S2000 has torque.....to me in my own personal opinion does not match that of which it produces horepower. It.....(to me, IMOP) feels lop sided in that department and would like to see it produce higher numbers in the torquue department. I know that hp and tq are trade offs..... I would like to see a litle more grunt down low.

Torque does not win races, the drivers do. Why is PK's Integra heavier than everyone elses? Cause' he wins races, it's his penalty. Does he need torque to beat the BMW's? No. It's the driver, not the car. On that note, go ahead and pull up next to me in a MGT or VW, the outcome will not be decided by torque specs.

btw, giving the S2000 a bit more torque (while ratining all other engine characteristics/traits) would also increase the HP as HP is a product of torque and revs. So it's not like I would like to trade hp for torque ... when I bought the car I knew exactly what I was getting but that still does not make me stop wishing for a bit more torque (which inderectly would give me more HP).

Zsr31-

Sorry- I had work to do. I can only goof off here when work doesn't beckon.

In any case, I guess I can come out to Mid Ohio, although I've never been there before. Give me the morning to figure out the track, and then we'll see about laptimes or straight up full session comparisons.

Drop me some track dates when you'll be there. I'll confirm with you when I can come out to play!

But yes- take a chill pill. My opinion of anything doesn't mean squat in the big picture, even if it is about someone's favorite car.

Lets see...I will probably be there for the Grand Am weekend, which is the first week of June I believe. Not sure about what I am or if I am racing though. If I am I will be in a GT1 Porsche. Maybe in August at the ALMS race I ll be in a 675 but we are still working on getting the car converted from SR2 rules. We could always go up for a SCCA weekend and rent spec racers or something........Then there is always just going through the school..they might even let us take out the S2000's since its a honda school.
I love you guys.........

Ok fine torque sucks everybody is right if HP is the greates and you dont need torque....the only thing torque is good for is to make driving easier.......
I am done with this......
GTR some day.......

Without torque...you would have no horsepower. HP is a measurement of torque at a certain rpm.
