Chazmo, I, too, experienced a bit of lower back pain after a recent long drive (600 miles with only a few leg stretches along the way). I plan on purchasing some nice-fitting seat covers and pin/attach a mousepad wristrest (one of those silicon implant types) between the cover and the seat (so it remains unseen). I think that should add a bit more lower back support and hopefully will remain in place without a lot of fuss.

When I went on a 2-week trip around the Western States last year I discovered the back support issue after a couple of days. I used a rolled up towel behind my back, which mostly solved the problem. I though it was just me until my wife joined me for the last few days and started complaining about the same thing after a day or two.

If I'm driving for more than about two hours, I put something behind my back for added support. (I'm 6' 1" by the way, if that has anything to do with it.)

Hi Scott,

I'm a pretty average height (5'9"), so I'd discount the height thing as an issue. Speaking of being tall, though, aren't you uncomfortable in your S2000? I had a tall friend sit in my car with the seat all the way back, and he had to keep his knees bent... Didn't look right at all...

Anyway, I think I'm going to try the towel / small pillow thing and see if that helps. I can definitely notice as I shift around in the seat that I'm straining my lower back. Some of it's just not being entirely relaxed as I drive -- some of it clearly is the seat. In all other ways, I find the seat wonderfully supportive though.

Best wishes

I've got the same problem on longer trips and have read other threads with people saying the same thing. It seems to affect taller people.
I use a small pillow when traveling over 30 miles or so. It helps alot!

Oh, try adjusting the back of the seat forward slightly. That seems to help too.

Cool, thanks.

Scott, I feel the same way. I'm glad you're comfortable in your car; would be a major bummer otherwise!
