Default To Lower or not to lower, that is the question

Hello all, I am thinking of lowering my car. I have 18" 5Zigen Imperio S-08's on the way. Do you think I will have to lower it for it to look good. Or will it look like a tank if I don't let me know. Thanks

i think it'll look somewhat better ,but don't expect to handle well. I've heard many times that the S2000 is at it's prime height stock , so any lower will fork up handles.

I don't know where you heard that??? Maybe it's at its prime height for practicality in everyday driving, but certainly not handling wise. The King motorsports S2000 that out-lapped full race cars at laguna seca certainly isn't anywhere near stock height.....it's SLAMMED. I say slam that bitch on some zeal B6 coilovers, or if you want to be a little more economical the Zeal B2's.

there's a mulitude of threads on this board covering this.

lowering the S has, in almost all cases, not improved the handling of the car (as measured in terms of lateral grip or slalom speed). looks are personal, so you have to decide that for yourself.

yes, the king motorsports car does handle very, very well on the racetrack. that isn't the street; however, and the car in question wasn't simply lowered. A whole lot of the suspension was re-worked. using this as an example of improved performance is not a good analogy, IMO.

Well they didn't keep it at stock height now....did they? If you're building a racecar you're not gonna keep it at stock height period....i don't know where you get your info from but this is pretty much a fact in the real world. Oh wait....they probably just do this to improve on looks

How the hell does this not belong in S2000 talk?

He has an S2000, wants to lower it, maybe needs advise on springs, maybe needs pros and cons of lowering car, and it is in Car Talk.

Can someone moderate the moderators? PLEASE.

Definition of the both forums:

S2000 Talk:
Discussions related to the S2000, its ownership and enthusiasm for it.

Car Talk:
Discussions and comparisons of cars of all makes and models.

By the way comparisons is spelled incorrectly under the definition of Car Talk.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I agree, I think it could have stayed in s2000 talk but what ever. Well I guess I'll just see what it looks like. I just don't want it looking like a tank going down the street. If I were to lower it it would only be about 1" or 1.25". I highly doubt that I would loose any handling. I mean if you lower your car you center of gravity is lower, hence better cornering etc. Isn't that right or is every one I've talked to on crack
