It really depends what you want...

Height.
Spring Rate.
Use? Track? Comfort? Etc..

YOUR BEST BET is to search on the topic. Type in springs/coilovers/eibach/neuspeed/lowering/etc. in your upper right and you should be able to read for hours.

I have the Tanabe GF. They lower the car about 1.25-1.5 inch and it feels as good as stock. The Kg/mm are used by many members and they swear by them. I've read some bvad things about the Neuspeed.

I am really happy with the eibachs. About 1inch drop all around. A little softer on the street, but gripper on the corners

Coilovers. if not that, I like the comptech adjustable springs so I can choose my height.

What's the best recommended spring for retaining as close to stock spring rates but lowering, say 1"?. Just enough to close that gap some for appearance sake.

Can stock shocks remain for said spring of choice?

I've heard Eibach can keep stock shocks but recommends an upgrade.
Others?

I believe the spoon progressive are designed to work with the stock shocks. And they lower the car 25mm (1in).
