Lowering Convertible Top
I know this thread has been covered numerous times.
Cant you just lower the top from the inside of the car, or do you have to get out and protect the rear window with the protective mat everyone is talking about? What are the consesquences of sitting in the car, lowering the top and taking off?

The advantage of a six second power top is lost if you have to get out. I have the Muz mat in the top well and raise and lower my top without moving from my seat. My window is fine without the tube or any other accessories.
The Muz mat in the top well takes care of the inside. On the outside I use a soft terrycloth towel that I tuck under the top where it overlaps the window on the top and either side. Then get in the car, lower the top and drive away.
my topdown rule: if the sky isn't falling the top is dropping. my rear window is a bit wrinkled from not using a tube but no worries. the muz mat protects from scratches very well.
in all honesty if it's raining hard enough for me to put the top up i can't see out the back window anyway
if it's not raining i'd rather put on a heavier coat than put the top up to stay warm. thanks to rick's windscreen inside temps stay nice and toasty if i just roll up the windows.
