This image shows the most involved part of the DIY-mod. And with this view we can see the ?one? inch [or taller] bracket where the seat mechanically will move effectively lower the seat-bottom - - yes - raising the locating points lowers the seat.
But what this view does not show is that there is a thick steel wire embedded in the seat-bottom foam that would run through the 'lower' half of that fabricated bracket shown in this picture. So please enlighten me. If possible, can someone with actual seat surgery experience tell me how/if that wire interference can be reconciled?

This is problem is eating at me,
thanks again,
-jeff

BYS is the way to go and it nets you just shy of an inch in the seat bottom lowering.

Thank you for responding - 20mm lower is what the other posts claim. If 35 or 40mm, then this conundrum would be moot! I am pretty sure that I will go the BYS-Rail route for the Driver's seat. I still have to put the passenger's side back together and will [already have started] must complete the modification process.
Thanks again,

Can someone re-host the pictures? This is one of my serious issues with the S (I'm 6'1" and couldn't see traffic lights at intersections, and the steering wheel practically sat in my lap). BYS rails are expensive for approximately 4/5" drop, which might not be enough. So this mod might be just what I need to rectify the issue, but I'm reluctant to dig into the seat/rails without reference pictures.

I'm not sure if these rails can do much more. I pulled my seat today to detail the interior and there isn't really much space for the seat to drop down. 2 cm might be it.

Sadly, I think I've given up on replacement rails and will be looking for an aftermarket seat.
