Lowering drivers seat -- question about order of steps
I'm 6'5" and read the following thread with great interest:

Once you've got the seat out and disassembled, the instructions say to first modify the front mounting position by drilling a new hole and installing a new nut to accept the bolt that hooks the front of the seat pan to the rails. Then to lower the back, you hammer away at the studs or area thereof on the underside of the seat pan. But, a cautionary note is made that these need to not get banged out of shape too much, or else the whole thing might not go back together. Makes sense.
But ... why not start in the back, and once that is done and going back together nicely, then use the holes in the rails at the front to dictate where you can drill a new hole in the front of the seat pan? That is, use the holes to help mark your drilling point, that way you know it will line up when you're all done. It seems like if you start by drilling and welding in the front, you're committed to that and your hammering may cause it to go all out of whack.
I haven't tried this mod yet so I'm only able to go by the photos and descriptions -- but has anyone how has done this offer any opinion on my idea? Thanks.

Yup, I've done it. 6'3" fit fine to begin with but wanted to be a little lower in the car. I followed the instructions on the link and ended up getting 1.5" - 2" lower.
I did as the instructions said and drilled the holes first. From my experience, it won't really matter which you do first - there is only so far the pan can go down either way. Take your time with this, especially letting the JB Weld dry - I ended up having to take the dame thing apart a second time due to not letting the weld cure fully and having in fall off when trying to reinstall the pan!
This mod is a bit of a PITA but once it's done, the results are worth it for someone our height. Hope this helps.
