Default Lug Nut Torque Wrench

Before you flame me, I did run a search but found only the ft/Ib numbers.

I am about to buy a wrench to use removing the lug nuts.

Do I need a 3/8" or a 1/2" wrench ?

any help would be mah-valous dahling.

Off the top of my head I think it is 85 ft lbs and use a 1/2 torque wrench.

if your 19mm socket is a 3/8 drive, get a 3/8 torque wrench. if its 1/2 drive, get a 1/2 torque wrench.

With the 3/8, make sure your wrench goes high enough - many I have seen are calibrated in inch-pounds, so you need to divide by 12 to get foot-pounds. My 3/8 incher does not go up to 85 lbs.

For my '04 lugs, I use a 1/2" torque wrench with a 3/4" socket and torque to 90 f/p. I believe acceptable torque is from 80-95 on these, but since I AX the car, I do it to 90.

If you can swing it, try to get the click stop type instead of the beam type.

Make sure you reset to "0" when you store it, and don't drop it!
