MA owners--help!
so i'm looking at the foot and a half of snow around my car--it isn't going anywhere soon--and i've started thinking of the new wrx... anybody else going through the winter blues with this car? no question the s2k a great car, but that subaru, although ugly, from what i've read is plenty quick, AWD (naturally), handles well, and is probably a lot less punishing on these northern roads. anybody else going through the same thing? i have a feeling that the frist top-down spring drive will make me forget all of this, but until then...
If you had to have only one car, the S2000 is not a great candidate. The S2000 is excellent as a second or third car that you will drive 95% of the time (ie whenever possible). If you had a WRX or any other high perf AWD vehicle, you may be happy when the weather is crappy out. But when the sun is shining, the temps are in the 50s-70's, the S2000 will feel like a very special car. Everytime you do a redline run up to 60+ mph, hear that engine note, feel the shifter etc, you will be glad you are in an S2000. I don't think the WRX or many other cars will make you feel that way. Life is short - enjoy it.
GL, check out the Meets and Events section of this site. Looks like a bunch of us (maybe 8 or so) are getting together on the Cape Saturday. Some of us are meeting off route 495, just after the Mass Pike, in Hopkinton. Between now and then, you should have your car ready to go and I am sure a nice ride down there will lift your spirits. I was up around Good Harbour Beach a few weeks ago (go there a lot in the summer) and drove around Rockport and the area with my gf. It was one of those cold Sundays with clear blue skies and dry roads. Hopefully that's the kind of weather we will get this Saturday, with warmer temps. And, people will be doing mods to their cars, so if you had anything planned, bring it along and I am sure there will be people to help you install since not everyone will be modding their car (me included).
I just pulled mine out of the garage yesterday and took it down to Home Depot. It was nice and warm out, so the melting snow meant that it was going to get a little dirty... but I would also be able to wash it!
It felt so good to drive it again and when I first put it on the road, it was absolutely perfect looking. This car still turns heads by the dozens.
The neighbors must have thought I was crazy washing my car with 2 feet of snow on the ground, but what did they expect?
