Default Mad about trade in Price

I want to know if im mad for now guys.

Here the story i get a letter from the dealer saying that They want to buy back my 2006 S2000 and that they will put me into and 08 09 S2000 with lower monthly payment then i have now of 278. I know it was Bull use to pull me in but i wanted to go with my dad just to see what they would do.

Well they have an 08 s2000 with a price of 36890 outside it was the only 08 left. I show the sells person the letter. and they told they need to see my car. i said ok but what price are you gonna give me the S2000 for.

The sales man said i need to see the car i told him why cant you tell the price now. He said if he doesnt see the my car he cant give me a price. It started to piss me of but i gave him my keys.

He come back and tell me he will sell me the S2 for 28850 and that the trade in for my car is 11k I told him that too much for the new S2 and that i felt he just slap me in the face for tring to give me 11k for my S2. He like carfax shows one crash and that they can sell a dirty S2000 with a record like that cause ppl and going to look in ti it. I told him that ya but all they gonna fine was that the headlight was replace that there no way that im taking 11k for my S2000 that i want 20k. (I dont know if that too high it was the first number that pop in my head)

He told me that 11k was too much for it and that we were mile away from a deal and to leave now if i wanted.

My dad told to **** off and he walked out i told them they will never get anywhere acting they way they did and left.

Im i mad for nothing is my car really that value??

It and 2006 with 44xxx miles and 1 crash that they only thing was i need to repaint the bumper and replace a headlight.

I'll give you $12K!

Why do you want to replace an '06 w/ a near identical '08? That doesn't sound like very wise money management to me.

Well, "fair" trade as listed on KBB is only $13k. They always lowball customers. They are not being rude so you should have the same respect. The economy is poor and the same reason they are discounting their S also applies to your S...that is damaged. The dealer is not there to be your friend.

Kind of agree with Chris S -- doesn't seem like you're getting a lot out of the deal but that's just me. Regardless, if you want the most for your car you'll need to sell it yourself, but I have no idea what a reasonable price is; it really depends on the market in your area. With the economy the way it is, prices for just about all cars are down -- too many for sale and not enough buyers, whether it's an Odyssey or an S2k.

It sounds like you already know this, but you should **always** negotiate and agree on the price of the new car **before** discussing your trade. Otherwise the dealer can just fudge one of the prices to make up for the other. Good luck

Just for getting yourself into a no-win situation.

You walked into a setup.
