I'd worry about paying your current one off before you get neck-deep in debt trying to buy a new one. If your monthly payment is $278, you must have an extremely long term loan on a 2006.

Trading a car is never an intelligent move.

They must have figured you weren't very smart if you were thinking about trading your car in. They must have figured you were really not so smart if you were trading in one car for another that is exactly the same.

You need to look at the package price and decide from that what makes sense. My dealership experience says you always negotiate and their first offer always sounds like a bad joke.

They never give you anything for trade in. Because they want to make money off your trade too. Pay you $11K, and then sell it for $19K. Just sell it yourself. I don't understand why anyone trades cars, it's not difficult to sell a car yourself. I would never give away a few thousand dollars for a couple hours of work.

I dunno about everyone else, but I never have & never would trade in a vehicle in the first place. You can usually get at least 5 grand more selling it yourself then anything a dealer will offer you.
