Maintanence Required how OFTEN?

I just hit around 14,000 Miles on my car, and the maintanence required light came on. This is my second time.
Just wondering what makes it come on, and how often does it?

that light is telling you it is oil change time... it starts reminding you at 6k after the last change(reset). Oil change interval is 7500 miles unless it meets the high use/ harsh env. req.
