what does the dealer typically charge for valve adjustments?
Non-dealer people in CA that do this all the time seem to charge about $125 with parts

$125 is on the high side. Evasive Motorsports charges $100 for example, and Ballade Auto does it for $80.

Another vote for dump oil, trans, diff, keep the coolant, swap the filters, check torque on plugs, enjoy. 03@23,000 here.

Thanks for the info. Do those prices include a new oem gasket?

I have an '03 with 34k miles on it. As the others have said, if you don't know the history, I would replace all the fluids except coolant. (Honda recommends first change at 10 years.) Check the tires for any cracking. Drive and enjoy!
I'm the original owner of my '03. When I drove it yesterday, it had 11,300 miles.

Check the Honda recomendation for coolant changes.....I'm not home now, so don't have access to my factory manual, but I'll bet the recomended change interval is much less than 10 years....either 2 or 3 years if I recall.

Otherwise I agree with what the other posters have said: change the fluids but nothing else unless worn/broken.

No need for a valve adjustment yet (again if I recall) the factory recomendation is 100,000 miles if noise from the valvetrain indicates it's needed.

The sticker under the hood (of all three of our Hondas) says that the factory filled coolant should be changed at 120 months, and then every 60 months thereafter.

120,000 mi/192,000 km/10 yrs
Replace engine coolant, then replace every 60,000 mi/96,000 km/5 yrs.

There is a service schedule based on miles or time. Follow that and do what needs to be done.
