Default Maintenance Needed Light Flashing on Startup

Anyone else seen this?

When I start the car, the maintenance light flashes four times then goes out-

Due to the blown engine fiasco, the engine is brand new- does the comp see my 15K miles and think its time for an oil change, or..?

Any input = much appreciated

The computer's telling you it's getting close to schedule maintenance time. Once you pass the magic number, the maint light will stay on.

I made this remark in another thread. It seems the answer is NO!
Why read the manual when you can just wait till something happens and then ask the question here? There's lots of people here who will take the bait (me included) and provide the answer.
Mind you, one day, we'll get a question like, "I've owned the car for about 4 months now and VTEC many times every day. When the pump jockey at my local full serve checked the dip stick, he couldn't see any oil. Why did this happen? Please HELP!"

OR

"I've been driving my car for about 2 days now and BOY, is this VTEC thing really neat! I've put not quite 300 miles on it and it's time to fuel up but where the hell is the fuel door release?" Peculiarly, on this one occasion, noone on this board gives a rat's ass and thus, noone answers. After the car runs out of gas and gets towed into the Honda dealer (at great expense to the owner), some service guy comes out and (unbeknownst to the owner), opens up the fuel door, puts in about a gallon of gas (which happens to cost about 10 bucks) and sends the owner on his merry way. Needless to say this story will repeat itself several miles down the road.

I realize its Monday, but the attitudes here seem a bit more appropriate for an online gaming forum.

I think that one of the things that drew me to this community was the level of maturity and how readily folks were willing to come forth with info, despite how lame the original question may have been.

Apparently, not so on this thread.

Jeepers, I coulda come back and replied: oh, what maintenence is due? But instead, I knew I could bring the manual into the "reading room" when I got home to find out what's coming up.

Unfortunately, I couldn't do this on the way to work, and thought that perhaps a bit of wisdom from the community would help me not worry about something like: "If your maint light flashes, there is something very wrong!"- Especially in light of my thrown rod experience, not something I want to distract me on the drive home tonight.

'smyroad, thx for the info bud, now all I have to worry about this evening is not hitting the guy in front of me.

I'll call all the rest a "Monday Anomoly" and move on...

Easy there, big boy! Just having some fun with ya. What? "Mature" people can't have fun? I can say the same to you - this "Monday Anomoly" prevents you from seeing the humour in it!
