Default Maintenance required light blinking

My maint reqd light is flashing. I thought it was because it was a tad low on oil, so I topped off the oil but the light is still flashing when I start up and then goes off. I tried to reset the ecu by disconnected the neg battery terminal.

My question is: since I've never had this happen, is if there is a seperate check engine light or is the maint reqd light THE check engine light. It's an 01 close to 29,000 miles I'm thinking maybe it's just time for the 30k dealership maint. Maybe I'm wrong. Can someone shed some light on this topic.
Much obliged.

The light is to remind you to change your oil.

Reset it by holding the trip button with the key in the ignition and turn it on while holding the button. Then wait for the light to dissapear.
