Default Major service & mechanical once over

After picking up the car on Friday, I've got her booked in for a major service and for my mechanic to have a good look over. It's in for oil, filters, plugs, gear & diff oil so should feel a little better after a bit of love. I gave the car a good look over when I bought it but having someone who actually knows what they're doing, giving it a clean bill of health, will put my mind at ease!

does this mechanic have any experience with S2000's? If not, make sure he knows what stuff to use.

Generic oil filters not designed for flow at 9k rpm. So suggest using the Honda filter. But if he just sources the filter and fluids from local Honda dealer, he is likely to get the wrong stuff, unless that Honda dealer has S2k experience.

He could easily get the wrong filter, and wrong diff fluid, from a dealer parts counter that is clueless about the special requirements of this car. The results could destroy these components. So MAKE SURE yourself that the right stuff is used on your car.

and the proper plug torque is not 13 lbsft as in the AP1 service manual. I do mine to 18-21 lbsft.

rear axle TSB?

trans honda MTF, rear diff synthetic 75w90 or 75w110

good luck and enjoy

Very good points, I highly recommend factory parts and fluids

Yes, oem and factory everything is always best...except the factory/oem rear diff fluid ...I think that's pretty much the only thing that isn't good out of the factory oem. Oh, that and the factory oem TCT.

Valve adjustment ever been done? Billman recommends 10k first adjustment, then every 75k after that.
