I think alot of guys are miss the 20whp gain he got out of it. if he bolts up a single and retunes he could be up 30whp from HIS baseline. not all dynos are equal and dynos arent the best measure for whp. if you look at HIS basline and not what the "average" baseline is then he got a very nice gain out of the skunk2 parts. hell at chruch some s2l baseline at 230whp! its all subjective. lay off the guy and quite hating.
to the guy that got 20whp for free.
Saying the s2k is weak is stupid. I drive a g35 coupe and if you want to talk about mods doing nothing, there you go. If theres a car its a waste to go N/A with, its the g35. Plus its very heavy. If you gain 30whp in an s2k its much more noticeable, obviously. To get 30whp on a g35 you need
Headers
Intake
Cats or Test pipes
Plenum spacer
Exhaust
EMS\Tune
$3,000+
The reason I'm on here is that I'm looking into getting an s2k. I want something that handles a little better
. If I do stay with the g35 I will gut it and run an S/C or ST setup, full suspension, wheels, tires, BBK. Or I can just get an s2k with tires and 1,500-3,000 in mods and beat the G's laptimes while saving myself $15,000

Why is it that almost everyone else that dyno's a 70mm, either dual or single exhaust has claimed 10+whp? lol. I have nothing to gain from the test besides free parts. Just because something sounds too good to be true doesn't make it unbelievable...
The reason behind doing the tests at skunk2 is because of their facility. It is big enough for installs and dyno tuning and they were kind enough to do it for free. So to hear someone bad mouth them is an insult to me, because they were so nice to me. The car was dyno'd back to back to back until a consistent number was achieved at all four stages (baseline, exhaust, header, and final aem tuning) the tuning was about 10-12 total pulls. I was there the entire day and there was no tampering with the dyno equpiment, messing with tire pressure, putting the fan directly in front of the intake, or any other means of creating a higher dyno number.
Also I don't really understand what you are saying about my reasoning was initially flawed? Please refresh my memory.

I'm not hating on you at all, I think that gaining 20whp is pretty standard for an EMS, header, exhaust (and from your post it sounds like you may/may not have a K&N drop-in filter as well) ... I just think that it's weird that they attributed half of that gain to a 60mm dual exhaust, when no other 60mm dual exhaust comes near that mark in performance gains. The closest would be the Sparrow 70R dual (which is a dual that starts at 70mm and splits into two 63mm pipes), and that is a bigger, freer-flowing exhaust.
I have a lot of respect for the Skunk2 guys and what they've done in terms of their racing programs, I just think that it's weird that they're exhaust, which not only is the same size as most other dual exhausts out there, but also looks almost exactly the same (in terms of pipe bends, overall layout, etc) as the other 60mm duals out there, produces 3 times the power of the other exhausts.
Then on the other side, they claimed only a 5whp max gain from their EMS & tune, which seems really low. Maybe they accidentally switched the two, or divided them weird -- I could definately see an EMS and exhaust together making 15whp, but if they really did the EMS last then it seems weird that they wouldn't have picked up more than that. I've seen S2000s pick up 20+whp with just an EMS tune, so claiming 5whp from an EMS tune and 10whp from a 60mm dual is what I'm skeptical about ... I'm not trying to insult you or your dyno, b/c overall I think that it is accurate (and to versionJDM I agree with you and I'm talking about relative gains), and definately good work on getting the parts comp'd

Also the ems helped a lot in the midrange...don't always judge things by peak numbers.

This exhaust's specs-
70mm -- tip size 101mm

The exhaust tested is just like the new invidia which is a 70mm dual exhaust. Maybe that's why you are having a hard time believing it's making that much power? And yes I do have a k&n drop in filter (included in the baseline).

And BTW, believe me I know about tuning and how much power an EMS tune will make, as well as the diff between midrange and peak power. I have literally seen peak numbers jump 20whp on an AP1 with just an AEM EMS tuned for peak (top end) power. You can gain 15whp in the midrange with an Apex'i V-AFC tune, so I wouldn't consider midrange tuning to be the end-all be-all of great EMS tuning, I would've expected them to go a little bit more aggressive on the tune if they're reporting peak numbers. Then again, I saw what the Doc did to that K20 turbo'd Fit, so maybe conservative is good
Just kidding man, nice job and congrats on being in a magazine, I'm sure that they'll invite you back when Skunk2 gets their cams dialed in.

the g35 is a turbo car for sure......in japan isnt that car a skyline and i belive it comes with a turbo setup
What?!?!
No dude, it doesn't come with a turbo in japan. The G35 is the skyline in japan, meaning it's the same car with "Skyline" written on the back instead of "Infiiniti".
