Miata NC Driver - Please Instruct Me in S2000 Lore
I haveowned two miatas. The S2000 revs to 9000 or 8000 depending on year/motor. 2.0 vs. 2.2 lt.
The S2000 is all the fun of a miata and just that much more...more power, more speed in corners, better0-60 to pass those mini vans.
better build quality, get another one to test drive. I had a test drive in rain with a 300 lbsales person myself, not fun, but the car is...its the car you want to graduate from a miata for.

5. The S2k has more power than my NC, but it wasn't something of night and day. That said, the most I revved the S2K was 5,000 RPM... So I'm comparing 5,000RPM in the S2K to 5,000 RPM in the Miata.
Like everyone else in the thread is saying, you need to rev the S2 above 6k to get a true feel for the car. I test drove a NC Miata prior to buying my S2, and honestly (I don't mean this in a negative way), there is really no comparing the two cars. The Miata is a lot of fun, but the S2 is a much different experience, it serves a different purpose and segment of the market. When the S2 came out it was beating up on the Boxster S and Z4, Miata's weren't even a consideration. With that said, I have a lot of respect for the Miata as for quite a long time it has been the only lightweight, affordable, RWD car out there. Now that the FR-S/BRZ is out that may mix things up a bit, but the more competition the better
.
i concur with everything said here...if you think your miata engine sounds better than the F20/22c, you need to rev it to redline...theres no way to describe the sound coming out of an F series motor at redline

The S2000 is like a Civic until it hits 6k, that's when it finally awakens. If you want to see what there is to an S2000, you need to take another test drive.
As for having a three hundred pound guy in the car it really shows when you drive. I drive my S solo most of the time, when my 275 pound kid gets in I can definitely feel the difference. If you can test drive it alone, do it.
