double the weight of the current hardtop is enough to lose my interest. good feature for a luxury car though.

But you'd also have to subtract the weight of the current soft-top, so it would come out to be surprisingly close. It would be like driving around with a 8 year old kid; maybe an extra 80lbs or so.

true but i guess if i was to not have the soft top anyway, i'd save 40lbs and get the fixed hard top.

that is fairly light though for a hardtop and motors though. i wonder how much the SLK version weighs.

Given the choice, I can't see myself going for a mechanical hardtop over the softop in a S2000. A sedan yes, a roadster no.

However, I am very jealous of the lines of the the hardtop boot. It looks much cleaner than our "bunched soft top."

The soft boot included with our cars improves the look imho, and isn't too much of a hassle to put on. I just don't like the hassle taking it on/off and storing it in the trunk. It takes up too much space. I must confess surprise Honda didn't come up with a clever way to store this to minimise space ala the Del Sol hardop. It seems to me there should've been a way to stow it behind the seats.

i think heard it takes around 20 or more sec. compared to 5 for the S. i honestly believe that many people, most people in my area dont even use their convertible top because they think of it as a hassle to wait...
