FWIW I think the S2000 gets great gas mileage for what it is....a sports car.
[QUOTE]Interior storage, without a conventional glove box, is going to be a challenge, and I will need to plan where I keep things (including both between-seats boxes), particularly our large, old garage-door opener. So far, the trunk

Mike
Good comparison.
I think if someone drives an S2k like they would, say, a camry, they'll be disappointed. My 2003 automatic miata was the nearly the best mix of comfort, smoothness and good looks.
I love the S2k and will probably drive this car to the ground. The S2k is louder and more powerful than the miata. The low end torque folks talk about is nothing compared to my miata auto.
You'll find that power after you've broken it in and start running over 5k rpm. You'll have to re-think what you want from your driving tho, because the S2k begs to be driven hard. It's very comparable to a motorcycle in sound and high revs. Even my passengers have said the car sounds like its "ready to go".
I love the sound of the engine but some might rather the smooth, quiet cruise a automatic Chrysler Sebring would bring them.

nice review.
you are in for a nice suprise when your breakin is up. If you are not complaining about the sub 5000rpm power then the VTec will be a nice bonus to you.
The DBW throttle will "learn" how you drive. I am pretty happy with the way my pedal response feels now, there is not noticable lag or mushiness. Since you are driving like a granny for the breakin (smart) it might take a good bit of agressive driving to turn up that response in your car.
FYI, i'm getting about 24mpg on my car w/ about 80% highway @ 75mph
