Default Midpipe switch?

With the massive bumping of year old threads in the for sale section yesterday, I saw a person selling their invida exhaust with both the mid pipe that came with it and the stock midpipe modified to fit the rear half of the invida. My question is, is that worthwhile to do? I currently have the buddy club duals that are the same basic design as the invida. Where I have gotten use to the drone and loudness, others that matter do not. Would taking my old exhaust and having it cut to use the mid pipe be something to look into? Any really big downsides to it?

I was thinking about it also but not because of the "drone" or loudness. I just want to get some of the "canny" (ricey) noise gone from 3-4k now that I have a testpipe.
