KimchiHo,

This is not a question of one versus the other, unless you have a car without the stock windscreen or want to remove the stock windscreen and throw it away. The screens were designed to serve different needs. Mingster's is intended largely for MY 2000 cars (which shipped without the screen as a stock item). Mine is intended for cars that already have the stock mechanism (those built after MY2001), so that the screen can be folded back for access to the rear window (for cleaning) when the top is up. Here's a photo of the one on my car.

The vibration matter is overblown, IMHO, and I'm baffled that it ever became an issue (then I remember that everything eventually becomes an issue on this board). Actually, now that I think about it, I think I was the one who first made it an issue . Yes the screen oscillates, but not enough to matter unless you're always watching it through the rear view mirror. Noise was reported by only a few people, which I suspect was the result of loose installation. Also remember that the stock mechanism has spring hinges so it can be folded back, so there's no way it can be completely rigid.

The screens also were designed to serve different needs. Mingster's is intended largely for MY 2000 cars (which shipped without the screen as a stock item). Mine is intended for cars that already have the stock mechanism, so that it can be folded back for access to the rear window (for cleaning) when the top is up. Mingster's is rigid because it does not fold back and is not mounted in the stock mechanism.

Mingster and I collaborated as I was releasing my screen and he was developing his second design (I shared the templates for the pattern that follows the curve of the roll bars -- his first version did not follow the curve). We do not see this as one screen versus the other since we're serving very different purposes and needs.

OK - the obvious question...do the Rick's screens come with the S2000 logo on them - cause that looks kewl!

Speaking of vibration, my driver's side belt BUZZES in my ear with the top down and the boot on the top - this is INSANELY distracting!

Rick's point was perfectly made. This project was a collaborated effort, and each of our design has its specific purposes.

Rick's the man!

Well, Fernando, as your post would imply, some people have good taste, and others do not.

Rick and everyone else,

I bought and installed Rick's 7/8 height aero screen few months ago. Let me tell you, the installation is fairly simple as long as you are a bit patient. Instructions are pretty dumb proof.

As for vibration, yes I see it and fortunately I don't hear it. Because of the factory hinge (mine is MY2001), it's inevitable to vibrate and I am thinking it was designed that way. I traveled 2 straight months daily to work going over 80mph average in my 90 mile round trip to work. I only had the top up 2wice during that time. The hinge is as good and tight as ever and the aero screen works like a charm. Now to my question - Logically speaking, the fatory hinge being contstantly vibrated along with the attachment points to the base should at some point weaken them. I don't know... just wondering if anyone has some data on whether or not the aero screen eventually makes the hinge or base connector points loose/break? I don't think so, but would like to know.

Thanks

Another small point (no one covers minutia like those on this board, huh Rick?), but several have found ways to wedge little pieces of rubber between the edges of Rick's screen and the headrest sides-preventing the vibration. Rick's more permanent solution is here:
