In slow traffic, I just let the clutch out in 1st gear and the car will roll ahead without me doing anything. That's as short as it is possible to shift.

But why would he want to short shift it?
Well he wouldn't want to massively overrev it, like to 9K or something.

I normally go with engine sound and that turns out to be between 3k RPM and 3500 RPM. This is for Dallas traffic. If I am having fun and doinng a spirited run then my shift points are between 5500 - 6500 RPM. My baby only has 2k miles on it

I am assuming that you are doing this on roads that dont have traffic. There is no way that you can spool up the engine to 9k rpm and not be on someone tail every second. Or you just like to burn gas for no reason.

Really. Some of us use the car every day and don't beat the hell out of it constantly. I'll hit VTEC maybe once a day if I'm in the mood. Still plenty of fun to be had below 6k.

3.5K - 4.5K is the sweet spot for me.

When I was in China the taxi driver kept shifting the car at very low rpms. He was pretty much lugging the engine all the time. I guess he thought he could save gas by keeping the rpms down.
