Default misfires/backfires

Ok so ive been getting these little misfires/backfires i can hear from my exhaust like little "pops". Now its only at idle, i got a valve adjustment done, compression is perfect, new plugs, new injectors. and its still doing it, therefore ive come to the conclusion that MAYBE it could be the catalytic converter?

I was reading another post and someone had mentioned that a clogged cat could cause little backfires? if thats the case, would getting a testpipe just get rid of the problem or should i just get another oem cat? btw i have 123k miles

I'm glad you started this thread. I've always been wanting to know what causes misfires/backfires. I have the megan resonated testpipe and I haven't seen any sigh of backfire yet!

I got mine for about $115 shipped. You can only hear the sound different at 4,000+ RPM. The smell is stronger, but not that bad.
