Misshift Lockout? anybody make one?
The best "misshift preventor" = sequential gearbox
But that mod is close to impossible.
It has to be done with the shifter.
IF I had a S2k gearbox at the machine shop @ work I guess I could....
I have made a 1:1 drawing of a "device" to turn a sequential shift into a H-pattern shift.
Seriously.

I was reading a back issue of SCC about quaife's SS on the last gen GTI
I think a second gear lockout could be a win. That's the critical one everyone misses. The main problem is, the shifter goes right into the tranny so, you'd have to build it into the shifter or maybe a lockout plate on top of the transmission housing that the shifter sticks into.
Ah, yes, the dreaded 5 to 2 misshift! I think a "lockout device would be helpful. But for me, a stronger "centering spring" would be just as good. Anybody know where I can get one? I took my car in that direction (sort of) by installing a countersunk shift knob --- after I countersunk it just a bit more. This made the effective length of the shifter shorter and made the action of the centering spring more noticeable. Still, I'd like it stronger. Anybody know how?
Thanks,
Richard

The spring in the shifter assembly is there for the reverse lock-out.
The centering spring, or select return spring, is inside the transmission.
Not easy to replace it for a stronger one IMO.
Keep the shifter bushings well greased to minimize resistance.
Use new shifter bushings to minimize play.
That is all about I can/could think of (and did apply).

I personally use the technique mentioned on the page above, and have NEVER had a misshift in my S
