Gosh, I cant get the damn boot installed. It is impossible because the that pin is covered by the convertible. I read previous post where someone pushed down on their convertible to get the pins exposed? Wont that hurt the mechanism?

I think the poster wanted you to manually assist lowering the top - it won't hurt, I do it all the time. Your boot may also be inflexible, so leave it out of the trunk (unfolded) for a while, in the sun if possible. I never use mine, and I still have the recalled version. Someone was working on a fabric boot, but I don't know what the status is. Anyone?

It is tricky, the edges on the inner corners have to be just right or they hang up on the top mechanism. And I have to put my hand under the back edge to guide the clips onto the pins. Try finding one that is installed at a dealer or at the WLA meet. Once you get the hang of it, it should take less than a minute to install.
