Personally, I just need one more thing -- new suspension then I am done! I swear! Well I sorta swear! Errrr.....then a new paint job. Championship White pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

THIS

Mine needs new paint in a bad sort of way...was thinking about championship white, but changing colors is $$ to do right. I'll probably get a fresh spray of Suzuka Blue. Even that will be like $3K to have done right.

Same here..
I am almost done..
I just need KW3 and I will be done.........

So truth is that my maximum budget now is 1k so I am looking at 1k coilover instead 2.5k one...
Already bought wheels/tires and all the cosmetic things.

dude your nuts!! your gunna paint over your 2008 GPW paint?!?!!?!?! i mean i could see if the car was older and neeeded paint, but just to drop a couple grand to go to a different shade of white on a perfectly good (and not that old) GPW is insane!! unless you got the big bucks!! lol

I've had my car since March and have put a little over $4k into it. All of it has been towards performance parts (aside from a Bluetooth radio which was cheap). I do all my own work and tuning, so no labor cost. The car came with Enkei wheels, OEM lip and KWv3's, so it I have no desire to upgrade anything cosmetically. If it doesn't make me faster around the track, I don't care to spend money on in.

I put a great deal of money into my SHO over the years I had it and learned things that weren't worth the cost. Applied that to my STi, and although I still have a good bit of money in it, I haven't spent nearly as much. All my cars are paid for and are older, so there's more mod money, but I've gotten past the point to mod just to mod.

This. I think those of us that are a little older and this isn't our first car to mod understand this well. I'd resist trying to do any mods that make the car too customized and aren't reversible, even if they seem cool to you. Some of the things I did on my older cars would make me cringe today, I'm just glad to have learned those lessons.

1. The advantage of not having had powerful great cars, is that my 04 S, is better than anything I'll ever have; although, I have toyed with the idea of 4.56 or 4.77 gears, but I get over it, ha!
2. I've always thought it was strange to buy a vehicle for X, then spend Y on it; I would rather just take X and Y, and buy a better car to begin with, coming "better" from the factory in its stock condition, so everything is right; but this, coming from a guy who doesn't want a turbo, b/c it's just one more thing to replace down the road b/c I tend to buy my cars used (the S was 6 yrs. old), then keep them for another 6+, so I get hit with maintenance and upkeep.
3. In fact, one of the ways I justified getting the S (it's just a work car and MC replacement for me), when I had a perfectly good 95 del sol (a poor man's sport's car, ha!), was that I knew I had about $2500 of repairs to do in the next 3 yrs. (based on my 94 del sol Vtec that I bought at 90k, and drove it to 160k, when it got hit), so I sold it for $2500 instead, and put the money toward the S. I also sold my MC for the same, and instead of buying another, used that money to justify spending so much on a "work" car. $18,455 for an 04 with 9k miles on it.
4. We all have ways to justify our car purchases when the one we have is working, ha! My wife was onboard since I'd a couple of "problems" with the MC (just a 400cc Maxi-Scooter, a Yamaha Majesty, which I loved). I was going to buy a 650cc used Suzuki Burgman, but instead got the S. Should have done that 3 MCs ealier, wouldn't have cost me anymore, and I wouldn't have injuries left over!

Mine is still bone stock after a year. Spent maybe $1400 on maintenance(many parts sitting new to be used). The main reason for it being that I always wanted an NSX and those cost $30k+ and high maintenance costs. I figure I could drive the S for a while until i saved up enough for the NSX but lately my thoughts are changing. I still have college to finish and don't have the funds to purchase and maintain the NSX in addition to the S. Selling the S and adding funds for the NSX is not an option as I paid the car in cash and plan to keep it. Either way.........it may be years before I am able to purchase the NSX so I'm thinking of upgrading the S until my finances are established. I have read the forums for the past year and picked up a few things. Will probably start buying mods within the next few months....starting with a SC and other under-the-hood things.

I loved the car stock but after 12 years I decided I needed a change. I have a body kit now. I think about doing the wheels but don't like the idea of having heavier wheels than my 16s. I managed to live with the stock stereo for 11 years.
I modded my Z a lot and wasn't going to do this with the S since its so addicting. Once you start...
