The Mod Squad!
So Bieg, are we not supposed to talk about anything except our bone-stock cars?
People buy mods to improve the car. Yes, this car can be improved on from the factory. Not by alot, but it can be improved. Improvements in the brake and suspension area are easily obtained and from what I can tell the ECU mapping can be much improved upon as well.
Let me say that Greg or myself (with our new little club and S2KDays) have made zero money out of any of our efforts. In fact, quite the opposite as we will be paying for much of S2KDays out of our own pocket. Why did we put on such a great event? Because it was a kick-a$$ time and everyone there had a blast.
This is a great community and if you knew the amount of hours put in planning S2KCA and S2KDays you would be very overwhelmed. Should we not plug the sponsors that bring you this site, S2Ki and S2KDays? Without them, none of this would exist. Then where would we be? Our Sponsors help us promote the S2000 community. Our sponsors put out good products.
If you don't like threads like this, please don't post to it. If you think our sponsors aren't important, you are very naive. All the things in our great S2000 community aren't free, someone has to pay for them.
I do, however, appreciate you views and in the future please PM someone if you have a personal issue to grind.

Bieg, I never see you starting any interesting threads. Just tearing down someone else's. I enjoy reading these various threads and lately have been coming across your salty ass negativity in just about every one of them. GET A LIFE YOU LOSER!!

Meat,
Sponsors are fine. Great that they buy an ad and it can be accessed on any page in this forum.
Speaking about your Mods are fine provided that you are not affiliated with the sponsor.
If a sponsor was to start a thread about how good their product was it would be considered "spam", or at least it USED to be. Manufacturers who used the threads to advertise their products were warned not to.
Giving a board member free parts and then letting HIM advertise the product is a loophole and should not be allowed. At the very least there should be a big disclaimer saying "While I may like this product please remember it was given to me free so I could promote it here on the board"
While you and Greg may not put cash in your pockets from any of these projects, Greg at least has parlayed this user base into free parts for his car. That is a financial gain. It is like "Payola" was to the music industry. "I can make or break your product because I have the ear of thousands of S2000 owners, etc..." I am surprised he hasn't found a way to weasel a free supercharger yet. I guess he is waiting for MG racing to develop one.
Point is that if you take something for free you are no longer an un-biased user. You are acting as an agent of the manufacturer and it is deceptive to have those people post in the threads.

Ummmmmmmmmm, how on earth is there "deception" when it says very clearly in my signature that my car is SPONSORED AND BUILT BY MG RACING?
I made several announcements to this effect, as well. I have explained this to you ad nauseum and ad infinitum.
Please do a search and get off my back...you have become tiresome.
Now, everyone else, remember the point of this thread? I love to see all the things that you have done to your cars...keep the posts coming. Soichiro is smiling...

Did Greg make any claims about his mods? He listed them. He didn't say that the MG intake is the best intake on the market for the S2000. In fact, if you look at his posts when he does review a product he is generally very objective about it. I don't think I have ever heard Greg say to buy the MG intake because it is the best intake.
You didn't jump all over me when I list all the Mugen parts on my car. How do you know if I paid for them (Well, I did pay for them, btw)? How do you know if anyone paid for anything on their car? Why single out Greg?
If someone tells someone to buy something that they have an interest in, it is an issue. If someone lists their mods, they are doing it because it is fun to see what others have done to their cars.

The point is that someone being sponsored by a manufacturer should not be able to post ANYTHING in the threads about his mods. It is advertising and it used to not be allowed here.
But apparently the board and it's threads have become a tool for the advertisers. Having the ads and the banners were not enough it seems, now the threads have to be seeded with shills from the audience.
Step right up folks.....

I got a big grin out of that one too!!
Made me do this ---->
Bieg, I think you're horribly misinterpreting Greg's intents. Based on what you say, if he welcomes a new member to the board, he's being nice so people will check out his car and then want to buy MG Racing parts and then he'll get more parts. So technically, Greg shouldn't be allowed to greet anyone. Sound a little ridiculous? I thought so. Point is, Greg praises the mods in their separate threads...everything single thing he does is not a secret plot to advertise!!! I just think you're looking waaay too far into these things.
