Default Modify or sell?

Well, it's comes to a point where I need to decide if I want to modify my S or buy something else. I love the car, but stock it just too slow for today's and my own standards. I have a little extra money and need to decide.

Should I...

Sell and buy a used C5 Z06, an all-round performer out of the box...

Or my other option is to max out the S2000. To me the handling is perfect, so I wouldn't touch the suspension/wheels. Besides, I like a more conservative/sleeper look. I'm considering Comptech's Supercharger, a 4.56 diff, headers/exhaust.

Of course, I know this is an S2000 board, so there is some bias. But I know many of you out there have had some similar thoughts. The S is awesome in everyway, except it can use more power in my opinion.

BTW, I never race/drag/autocross. This is my daily driver car, and reliability is huge and if I modify the S I would want solid mods that I can worry less about.

PS- would the above modified S2000 be able to at least hang/be close to a stock C5 Z06 in terms of speed?
thanks!!

The reason why your S2000 feels so great is because it was engineered the way it was. It weighs so much so it has x amount of power, handling and brakes for it to perform given those numbers.

Once you upset the original balance of the car by adding a lot of extra horsepower, you will probably have to mod the suspension and braking systems.

If you're adding only a little bit of power, then you're probably OK.

In my experience, modding a car heavily is usually a waste of money. I used to drive a '98 VW GTI VR6. I knew guys with cars like mine with enough invested in mods that could have been driving an M3 or maybe a used 911.

If your S2000 no longer satisfies you then you should sell it and get a car that has what you need/want.

Personally, I enjoy driving modified cars. Even if the car came with 500hp from the factory, I wouldn't be happy with it out of the box, but with a modified car there are always some degree of trade-offs that come into play (ie. reliability, rattles, etc.). I'm sure you know better then any of us what you would be more happy with.

Modifry went 180k miles with the stock engine and 120k+ of those were supercharged. The S2000 can still be reliable with a supercharger. I say buy a S/C first, and if you still feel like you need more power, buy some more power. With the S/C at stock boost, you'll be at high 12's, low 13's, which is at least as fast as a C5Z06

Well, if it were me, I would keep the S'. Sounds like Gears and a supercharger would be a nice power mix.
Just invision Taking a Z06 in your S'. I believe that would be a good feeling. I personally appreciate cars people put a little effort into. Factory out of the box street cleaners just don't give me the same satisfaction like a car that has a little bit of my blood, sweat and personal touch in it.
All in all, Z06 are nice cares and a great sports car for the money. Either way you go I am sure you will enjoy it.

Built engine and turbo if you want low end torque to go with your top-end power. Keep the S2k and and do this:

stroked with tsx crankshaft (2.4 liters)
arias 9:1 pistons
darton sleeves
steel rods
arp head bolts and studs
garrett gt28 turbo
14.5 psi boost
tial 38mm wastegate
hks super seq bov
lovefab "mini" manifold
2.5 inch downpipe
3 inch exhaust
rc engineering 720cc injectors
walbro 255 lph fuel pump
aem ems, uego, and fuel rails

to handle the power, add:

ssr professor sp1 rims, 17x9.5 and 17x8
wrapped in some sticky tires
with kw variant 3 coilovers (or ohlins if you got the $$$)

make sure you get a
clutch-type lsd (1.5 or 2 way) and an ACT clutch

Then have fun you rich bastard! (just kidding-i'm jealous)

The s2000 is no match for the z06, if you can afford one, then I say go for it.

with that being said though.
