Default modify the stock exhaust?

has anybody ever tried modifying the stock exhaust?
its heavy...and it has lots of restriction...how about cutting one side off to reduce some weight....AND...it wont be too noisy?...its pretty easy getting someone to custom cut and bend the joining bit between the 2 mufflers....whoever has tried please tune in to this!

I am going to guess that it would sound like the OEM exhaust, no louder, no quieter. You aren't changing the muffler, or resonator in this case. Just removing half of the pipe. I wonder if it might even restrict flow.

IMO, all you would gain in doing this is 15lb weight saving and a bumper cutout with no exhaust tip in it.

a bumper cutout with no exhaust tip isnt a problem...lots of people have singles!

With all the modding needed to the OEM exhaust for this, you might as well just get an aftermarket can (HKS or whatever) and have a custome exhaust made. To replace the resonator, fab new piping at the Y, you have basicly just re-piped the whole thing from cat to the muffler. All this to retain the ghey OEM muffler? Maybe I am missing the point. Not trying t flame but it seems like no bang for the buck here.

The stock piping gets smaller after the Y, if you had all your exhaust flowing through only one side it would be a huge restriction and cause a loss in power. If I were to do it all over again I'd just cut off the stock mufflers and weld up some nice Magnaflows.
