Default Modify your S2K?

I guess this is pretty much a universal question here. I know that many of you plan to keep your stook for a long time. So my question is how many of you will never modify your car. It's always so tempting to modify but do you guys ever get a fear or something of changing your stook or damaging it in the long run because you modified it?

i have started to modify my car and will continue to do so. I really don't have any fear of doing anything really bad for the car, as long as I put the best mods I can for the car. I think modifying the car is fun, its starting to become a hobby of mine.

My plan is to keep it stock. Although some of the Mugen adds are tempting... but too much money for me.

Advantages of keeping it stock:
  • You can demonstrate that Honda did a near perfect job
  • You will save money, both in upgrade costs and better value retention of a "stock" car
  • You won't screw things up by badly planned or poorly executed mods
  • No warranty hassles... Other than the clutch, syncro's, diff and rear window.

Advantages of doing mods:
  • You can compensate for the compromises Honda made in the interest of cost, regulations and sales objectives
  • You can make your car go faster and handle better, if you do it right
  • You can "bond" with your car in the process.
  • It's fun, if your into that sort of thing

I have been having the same debate. I think you can make ceratin mods, like ground efects, air filter, brakes, rotors, wheels, suspension bracing, ... without fear of hurting the car. all of which will help the car handel better

No mods here. I will be keeping it stock. Unless you count the Muz well mat. That is all I have added to the car. I don't consider that a mod though.

"Fear of Damage" hmmmm Alot of the people I know have "purpose built" cars which when pushed continually on the race track, well things break. We call it "maintenance".
If you're used to seeing tube frame cars with nothing but a motor, exhaust, single seat, roll cage, oversize brakes, 14" slicks and a fuel cell and, you don't mind having a little grease on your hands, it's just too much fun to throw on a couple "bolt on" upgrades. To me, that's what makes it MY car.
Just about anything is fixable and what's not is replaceable, it's nothing to be scarred about - Have fun, with or without modification.

I modify to suit my tastes and preferences. It could be for looks, for performance, or for comfort. Right now I'm in this mode of looking for different ways to lighten my car. Whether it is taking things out of my car or replacing them with lighter parts. Leaving the car alone is too plain for me. I need to personalize it to a degree. When another S2 pulls up next to me I want my car to be slightly different from theirs. As far as damaging goes, I try to stick with quality parts and mechanics that knows what they're doing. Guys on this board will give you heads up if something is going to mess up your car, or at least give you the pros and cons of a mod.

Sometimes $$$ is a factor in replacing broken parts after mods are installed. As long as you know that when you do something like put on a supercharger you need to upgrade other parts (ie trans. ...) then you should be good to go! The added stress on the rest of your car after you put on mods is sometimes too much for stock parts.
