Default Mods at trade-in time.

I have a fear (justified or not) that any modification I make to my s2k, no matter how artfully done, will diminish its value should I deside to trade or sell it. Therefore I have limited my mods to those I can easily reverse with all stock parts I've stored. This concern, for example, keeps my from cutting out the fake side air vents in the bumper, as that wouldn't be easily and cheaply resorable to stock.

Have any of you had any experience in selling or trading an s2k with mods?

Thanks,
Richard

trading a S with mods will not bring as much as a stock one, but to limit ur mods to ones u can change back when finished can be done without the dealer knowing, unless u ebay it

Well, it's OK to mod your car but dont expect to get what you put in it back. If you sell it on the street, you'll get a better value for it then at the dealership. Mods or no mods. I had an MR2 that I put $35k into in mods and only got $18K for it. Just realize that before you do it.

Besides, why would you want to sell it?!?

dealerships hate taking in cars that have mods, they know they'll have a harder time to sell them. that is why you get ripped off if you do a trade in. if i were you, id sell it privately and use the money to buy the new car. they're not dealerships, but STEALERSHIPS.

I figure when I'm done with the car I will have reached one of two circumstances:

1. I drive it until the wheels fall off and get a new one.
2. I kill myself in a high speed accident.

Either way, trade-in is no concern.

If you're planning on trading your car in anytime soon, why would you mod it?

I'm not planning on trading my car, with 10K miles on it, anytime soon. But I know that life is uncertain. I could have bad luck and suffer a disability that prevents me from driving a stick shift, or could have financial problems. I could have good luck, come into $100,000,000 and buy a Ferrari or something. (VERY UNLIKELY). I think the time to start thinking about resale value is from the first day you own your car!

Based on what I'm reading above, I think I'll continue to confine any mods to those that can be put back to stock (with no evidence) quickly, easily, and cheaply.

Thanks,
Richard
