I say the hell with all that classic car crap. I own the car NOW, I want to drive the wheels off it NOW. I've no desire to see it appreciate in value, which it probably won't anyway. I say just get all you can out of it now, and keep it for as long as it'll run. After all, it is a car, and was meant to be driven.

Anybody else with me on this?

i'm totally with clayman, this car is suppose to be a fun car and if u choose to customize it to ur own personal taste i think that would make the car more satifying and if a person perfer to keep it stock for the classic look or feel thats good too.

and as long as u do the proper maintence on the car i wouldn't see a problem with the value of a car, unless stuff u do to it wasn't properly documented or done poorly

If those Barret-Jackson auctions are any indication this car would have to retain close to stock status to be worth anything.
Also something to think about, if the ap2 only had like a 3 year run, it would be more rare yes? LOL

The Z3 M is a different story, they didn't make very many to start with so they might actually go up in value. Same thing with the later years of the NSX, Supra and RX-7, M coupe etc. If you look at the production numbers they were all down to about 25 per month toward the end of their life cycles. The S2000 won't be in that category, sales of ~5,000 per year mean that the S is not going to be rare for a long time...if ever. So have fun with it and drive the bejesus out of it now!

I never buy a car with the intention of keeping it long term, maybe i would if the s2000 was a weekend car..

I think keep it dead stock, when im currently looking at buying one, any modifications i wouldnt even think about touching it, dead stock is the way to go...

Hell there's a 2000 Model with the full autosaloon setup, completely deformed, going for 75% more than a stock 2000 model... there never gunna get it.

There's no way the s2000 will ever have the value or rarity to actually apriciate in value. There were too many produced, the car is too cheap, and there's no niche market for it in america like there is classic muscle cars. Sure someone forever from now might want to own an s2000, but when he does he'll get it for a reasonable price, but anywhere near what you paid, and surely not anywhere near more than you paid.
