Default More on the Replacement Seat

Let me guess: You are getting fed up with the nut who keeps posting questions about a replacement seat for an S2000.

Well, I, and perhaps others, may soon have a solution from one of your sponsors, King Motorsports/ Mugen.

This (below) is the response I got to my question as to whether King Motorsports/Mugen had a replacement seat which would enable a 6-foot, 6-inch person (36"-inseam, 36" waist) to fit into an S2000:

[Quote] Thank you for your email. The present Mugen S-1 bucket seat will be very cramped for you. I have a 34" waist and it's a pretty snug fit. Mugen is working on a larger S-1 seat to accommodate American size folks better.

I am very certain that this seat will fit your requirements in the legroom and height departments. Generally you will gain approx. 2 inches in legroom when using this Mugen seat. It is also lower by about 2 inches too.

Keep an eye on the news section of our website www.kingmotorsports.com for upcoming news on the larger seat.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards, [Unquote]

Hot Damn! As I told the Mugen representative, you can bet I'll be the first U.S. customer for this seat. And, to the rest of you normal-sized S2000 owners, keep your eyes open for a black '04 S2000 driven an exceptional tall owner with a huge grim on his face, 'cause I'm coming soon to a stretch of two-lane blacktop near you. I've been getting the same reply from King Motorsports when I asked a few months ago (year?). I'd love to get that seat in a bigger size; I'll be the second one to get it then...

I'm short at 6'3" (I'm shrinking). Normal folks are >72", not the other way 'round...

Tell me about it!

But I think what the King Motorsports representative meant was that Mugen intends to produce a seat that will fit a broader range of people (no pun intended), and that the way the seat is mounted in the car will accommodate me as well. For me, since about age 14, that's been about as "normal" as life gets.

Bottom line, the prospect of fitting into a new S2000 made my day.
