Default Most expensive markup?

I stopped into the dealership near my office the other day for some routine maintenance and had the chance to check out the new 2002.

They wanted $7000 over MSRP!!!!! I just about burst into laughter

So, what's the highest markup people have seen out there lately?

Highest markup i saw was $10,000. Then the dealership proceeded to add chrome wheels-$1995, titanium shift knob-199, Front spoiler-799, rear spoiler-699, etc....u get the picture. I sure hope nobody bought this $50k S2k!!!

Diamond Bar Honda in S.Ca tacked on 10k to their suzuka blue w/out any options. I told the sales people that the price "may" have been acceptable... two years ago during the summer time when the car first came out.

these dealers still think the year is 1999 before the recession and before the 2003 depression

NO JOBS!!! out there guys..
too many people competing for so few little openings.

thats why Bush had to give an extra 3 months for unemployment.

I saw a $10K markup at Airport Honda near LAX. I doubt anyone bought that car, it was such a joke of a markup. They actually called me to see if I was interested in the car. I told them if I was going to spend that much money, I'd just buy a Porsche. They said a lot of people told them that. I wonder if a sucker actually bought the car?

OK, so it's not on a whole car, but how about $350 for replacement front tires.

EACH ! ! !

Plus labor.

When I bought mine there was a 10,000 dollar markup as well as about 2000 dollers in accessories. Regardless I only paid 150 or so over MSRP.

I know someone in Massachusetts (yep where summer only lasts 3 months) that bought it for 10K over MSRP. She traded it in a year later and only got 24K vs. the 42K she paid for it.

Heres what an owner of a Oldsmobile/Honda dealership told me last September(I kinda know this guy from a friend of mine)....alot of dealers will mark the car way up during the first few months of the release date,so a 7 to 10 thousand dollar mark up on a 2002 sounds like a price from, say last October when the 02's starting hitting the dealerships, and because alot of people want the new model as soon as it comes out people are willing to pay the mark up.Since the 02's have been out for some five months now MSRP is all I'd be willing to pay. Also, not all dealers get the same number of S2's to sell(I seem to remember him telling me dealers get between 7 and 10) so a dealership that only gets a few cars can jack the price way up and make their killing.
